W. Britains Reproductions

** Due to the astronomical increase in the cost of metal and higher energy expenses we will be forced to raise prices on some of our castings. For most of these it will be the first price increase in 3 years. We do not do this lightly, but it is essential in order to maintain our quality and service. This increase will take effect on all orders posted after September 1, 2007.

We make reproductions of several hundred W. Britains figures in our in-house moldmaking and casting facilities.

Our W. Britains figures are centrifugally cast in our shop. Our casting metal is compounded to our own specifications. It is made from virgin lead, tin, and antimony. Its properties are selected to provide temperature-stability up to 450°F, adequate strength, creep resistance, resistance to aging, and to take the detail from the mold.

Our castings are not made or suitable for children.

Our castings are solid. They can be bent, unlike W. Britains originals, which were hollow and would usually break. Large pieces, such as horses, are cast in two parts which must be glued together.
