Our casting metal is compounded to our own specifications. It is made from virgin lead, tin, and antimony. Its properties are selected to provide temperature-stability up to 450°F (232°C), adequate strength, creep resistance, resistance to aging, and to take the detail from the mold.

Our castings are not made for or suitable for children.

Large figures, such as horses, are cast in two parts which must be glued together. The two parts then enclose a cavity. The usual single figure is solid. We do not use the Britains hollowcast process.

Yes, London Bridge's wheels turn.

How can I tell what colors to paint my London Bridge castings?

The best way is to copy an original figure. If you do not have an original Britains figure or a suitable color picture available, you can buy one of our figures already painted to use as a sample. Some suggested paint-mixing recipies are given in our Painting Guide. You can also e-mail or phone London Bridge for advice and suggestions.
